• Spelling Noughts and Crosses

Divide the class into two teams and designate a noughts team and a crosses team. Draw a noughts and crosses game board on the board. Select students from alternating teams at random to stand up and spell a word from their spelling list. If they spell it correctly, they get the opportunity to put a nought or cross on the board. If they spell it incorrectly, they forfeit their turn, and it is the other team's turn to spell a word. The winning team gets three noughts or three crosses in a row.

Variation: Have students spell the word and say the word in a sentence before they can make a move on the board.
